The OCP welcomes Teagan Gaviola as their intern. Welcome, Teagan! Who are you, and why did you apply to this position?
“I’m Teagan (she/they) and I’m a queer Filipino-American, born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I’ve spent the last four years finishing a Political Science degree with a minor in Legal Studies, three of which I worked as an events coordinator for the LGBT Education & Support Services. During that time, I found great fulfillment in my work, as I had the opportunity to serve and celebrate communities I care so deeply for. With the OCP, I’m so excited to continue building meaningful spaces and curating engaging environments to uplift and support those around me.
What drew me to OCP:
I was drawn to the OCP because of its commitment to support the local Oregon art community. As a child of two graphic designers and artists, I was constantly surrounded by Portland creatives and the local art scene since I was young. Something I’ve learned throughout my life is that people really do thrive through connecting with others and sharing their stories, and art acts as a means to do so. In prioritizing our communities and nurturing connections through art, the Oregon Cartoon Project is capable of creating great change and positive impacts upon our Oregon communities that act as a hub of artistry, human expression, and creativity.”
Welcome to the team, Teagan. We look forward to working with you.
